Relax At Home - How To Create A Home Spa Experience
If you have been inside for days due to the COVID-19 pandemic you might be getting a little bit anxious or at the very least feeling bored. The good news is that you can create the perfect day or evening of pampering and relaxation in your home.
The most important thing to create a home spa experience is to set up the atmosphere. For this, you will need calming music, some essentials oils, such as lavender and eucalyptus, and candles.
Now that you have the mood of the spa, put on your slippers, prepare your towels, and choose a skin care treatment (or more) to pamper yourself.
Do not forget to prepare your “spa water”. All you need is a glass of water with a touch of lemon, mint, or cucumber to refresh your body.
Step 1 Clean Your Face
Start by cleaning your face. You do not want dirt or oil blocking the absorption of the products you are about to use.
If you are not sure what cleanser to use, try Heimish All Clean Balm as it will leave your skin feeling clean. The balm incorporates extracts from a multitude of wildflowers, trees, and leaf oils.
Step 2 Steam
Now that your face is clean is time for your steam treatment. Steaming has many benefits like opening your pores, increasing circulation, releasing dead skin cells, bacteria, and other impurities that clog the pores, and helps your skin better absorb skincare products.
If you do not have a face steamer you can do it over a bowl or sink of hot water. Follow these simple steps:
- Bring 4 to 6 cups of water to a boil
- Add a handful of herbs once the water begins to boil and stir
- Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 2 or 3 minutes
- Have a seat, drape your towel over your head and hold your face 6 inches above the water
- Raise or lower your head for more or less heat
- Steam your face for 5 to 10 minutes
Step 3 Face Mask
Now that your face is clean and your skin is better to prepare to absorb skincare products is time for one of our favourites at-home spa treatments, applying a face mask.
It is important to use a mask specifically for your eyes such as Petitfee Black Pearl & Gold Eye Patch. It is perfect if you have puffy eyes and eye bags, as it will promote blood circulation leaving your skin fresh and hydrated.
My favourite face mask is Skinfood Rice Water Wash Off because I love the luxurious feeling that follows the application, believe me, it is simply divine. Plus, the unique texture combats a dull expression and leave your skin purified.
Do not forget to pamper your lips with Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask that is infused with Berry Enzyme Complex and Vitamin C. Apply it after you complete your skincare routine and leave it for at least 8 hours.
Step 4 Anti-Aging Hand Mask
You must pay attention to the backs of your hands as they also reveal significant signs of aging. Take good care of them by using Tony Moly Peach Hand Cream. This natural formula is enriched with peach and apricot extracts that promote skin elasticity providing powerful anti-wrinkle effects.
Step 5 Foot Soak
Your spa will not be complete if you do not have a foot bath. Foot soak is the perfect treatment to relax and detox. If you have dry, cracked heels use a soft scrub such as Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off as it will help you remove dead skin by exfoliating with Brazilian black sugar granules. Apply it to your feet and leave it on for 10 minutes then wash off with lukewarm water in a circular motion.
Step 6 Treat Your Hair
There are many ways you can treat your hair at home. You can treat dry, brittle hair with a small amount of butter. Massage it into your dry hair, cover your hair, and leave it for about a half-hour. Shampoo as usual and rinse all the butter out.
Step 7 Take a Long Bath
Finally, take a bath to promote better circulation, relax your muscles, and sleep better. Just add bubbles or essential oils and a glass of wine and you will feel instantly calm.
